What are the ways to speed up the flooding?

Generally speaking, the immersion in the low temperature for a long time is the safest and the damage to the fiber is minimal. However, from the viewpoint of production efficiency and equipment utilization, it is uneconomical to immerse the water for too long. In order to accelerate the immersion, the following methods are often used:

 

1. Accelerate mechanical processing. At present, most of the drums are immersed in a static rotation mode. The longer the drum rotation time and the faster the rotation speed, the stronger the mechanical action applied to the skin. In addition to this common mechanical treatment, in special cases, it is also possible to accelerate the water immersion by means of a blunt knife to remove flesh, a slurry scraper, a small liquid ratio or a bathless drum. It should be noted that no matter which mechanical treatment method is used, it must be moderate, especially in the case of less moisture in the skin, which is not suitable for strong mechanical treatment.

 

2. Increase the temperature. This is the most common method of accelerating water immersion. In order to prevent excessive cortical loss at higher temperatures, a combination of high temperature and low temperature may be adopted. High temperature immersion generally does not exceed 28 ° C, and must be used in conjunction with preservatives.

 

3, add alkali to help soft. The alkali materials commonly used for water immersion are soda ash (Na2CO3), caustic soda (NaOH), and alkali sulfide (Na2S). The amount of alkali is preferably controlled to 9.0-9.5 after the pH is equilibrated.

 

4. Add a wetting agent. The wetting agent promotes the penetration of moisture into the skin and shortens the time of water immersion.

 

5, add degreaser. Degreasers generally have both degreasing and wetting. The degreaser together with the alkali material removes some of the oil on the hide, which reduces the water repellency of the skin and improves its wettability. From the viewpoint of cost reduction, an anionic degreaser which is relatively inexpensive can be generally used in the water immersion process.

 

6. Use a soaking enzyme. The activity of the enzyme is closely related to the temperature, and the temperature is high and the effect is strong. However, care must be taken when using soaking enzymes at higher temperatures.
